  3. Well, all that needs to be done now is for you to
  4. reboot your computer to put the changes to your system
  5. into effect.  From then on, just type:  TCP <ENTER>
  6. to activate your TCP/IP station.
  7.  
  8. You can of course add "TCP" as the last line in your
  9. AUTOEXEC.BAT file so NOS will start whenever the
  10. computer reboots.
  11.  
  12. You must make sure that your TNC is in KISS mode and
  13. running at the right terminal speed (read the help
  14. invoked by pressing <ALT><F10> in the install screen
  15. beneath this window) and remember; if all else fails,
  16. read the tnc manual!
  17.  
  18. You can speed NOS up a little by using programs like
  19. FASTOPEN (in your DOS directory), and, if you aren't
  20. using a hub, edit the domain.txt file so that your
  21. local region addresses are at the top of the file.

  23. If you find you are short of memory, consider an
  24. upgrade to a later version of MS-DOS or try using the
  25. programs like VIDRAM or ABOVE640 which both reclaim
  26. some of the video graphics memory for program use.
  27.  
  28. Keeping an eye on the trace screen when running NOS is
  29. very good practice, but it does slow things down
  30. considerably.  You'll notice a big difference if you
  31. turn the trace off when not in use.
  32.  
  33. Don't forget to have a look in your TUTORIAL directory
  34. for useful tips.  I'm sure your local stations will be
  35. more than pleased to lend a hand.
